I have spent more than seventeen years as a General Practitioner. I built and ran Rosmed Family Practice, sat across the desk from thousands of patients, and thought I understood what it meant to walk alongside someone through illness.
In 2024, that understanding changed. I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
I went through surgery, treatment, and recovery. And as I moved through it, I saw the gap that my patients had been telling me about for years, but had never really felt myself. The clinical care was excellent. The rest of my life, from what to eat and how to move to how to sleep, how to think, what to take and how to cope, was left largely to me to figure out.
I am fortunate. I am a doctor. I have colleagues to ask. Most people do not.
Elah Health grew out of that gap. It is a whole-person practice covering nutrition, movement, mental wellbeing, supplement guidance and DNA-informed care, offered by secure video anywhere in South Africa and in person at the Somerset West practice, for people living with a diagnosis and for people who want to age well on their own terms.
I am living this journey myself. I am on hormone blocker treatment for ten years. I have my own scans and my own emotional processing to do. That is not a weakness in what I offer. It is the point of it.
