Telemedicine
How Telemedicine Works
Expert healthcare from the comfort of your home.
What is telemedicine?
A real medical consultation, delivered via secure video call. Regulated by the HPCSA under Booklet 10 — the same clinical standards as an in-person consultation. Dr Maretha can consult with patients anywhere in South Africa.
What you need
- • A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone
- • A stable internet connection
- • A quiet, private space for your consultation
The process
- Submit a consultation request via the website
- Elah Health confirms your appointment and sends a secure video link
- Join the video call at your scheduled time
- After the consultation, Dr Maretha sends a summary, action plan, and any necessary referrals or prescriptions
What telemedicine can cover
- • Lifestyle oncology consultations
- • DNA and personalised health reviews
- • Survivorship check-ins
- • General personalised healthcare guidance
What telemedicine cannot cover
- • Physical examinations
- • Emergency medical situations (call 10177 or go to your nearest emergency department)
- • Prescriptions that require a physical examination first
Compliance
All telemedicine consultations comply with HPCSA Booklet 10 guidelines and POPIA data protection requirements. Your consultation is private, confidential, and secure.
