Telemedicine

How Telemedicine Works

Expert healthcare from the comfort of your home.

What is telemedicine?

A real medical consultation, delivered via secure video call. Regulated by the HPCSA under Booklet 10 — the same clinical standards as an in-person consultation. Dr Maretha can consult with patients anywhere in South Africa.

What you need

  • • A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone
  • • A stable internet connection
  • • A quiet, private space for your consultation

The process

  1. Submit a consultation request via the website
  2. Elah Health confirms your appointment and sends a secure video link
  3. Join the video call at your scheduled time
  4. After the consultation, Dr Maretha sends a summary, action plan, and any necessary referrals or prescriptions

What telemedicine can cover

  • • Lifestyle oncology consultations
  • • DNA and personalised health reviews
  • • Survivorship check-ins
  • • General personalised healthcare guidance

What telemedicine cannot cover

  • • Physical examinations
  • • Emergency medical situations (call 10177 or go to your nearest emergency department)
  • • Prescriptions that require a physical examination first

Compliance

All telemedicine consultations comply with HPCSA Booklet 10 guidelines and POPIA data protection requirements. Your consultation is private, confidential, and secure.
